TRAVEL
As part of the “Wonderland” Series
“Travel” is a black and white photography installation that focuses on the beauty of the process of traveling rather than the destination. Often time we get excited about the idea of arriving somewhere where we can relax, pause, reflect, and then neglect how interesting and exciting things become the moment we arrive to a place like the airport, where thousands of people interact, create memories, generate millions of thoughts, produce millions of mixed emotions and so many events are constantly happening. I was going through a tough time in my life where traveling was essential for me to keep pushing and find solutions, so I started taking pictures at the airport rather than when arrived to my destinations, (over a 3 years span). I decided to capture the images in black and white because even though photography immortalizes moments, them being in black and white puts them emotionally in the past. Each single trip and moment will never happen again. I wanted to play with that detail to add the idea of old, gone, lost, momentary and nostalgia to the work.
