ABOUT ME

My name is Ella Noir. I am a multi-dimensional performance artist based in New York City.

My primary forms of creative expression are performance (live poetry, dance, acting) and visual arts (photography and videography installations).

I was born and raised in Paris, France to Colombian and Italian parents. My strongest influences are my Afro-Latin American roots, European theater as well as American Jazz, Pop and R’N’B.

My creative journey started at the age of 4 with dancing, music and acting. I progressively found poetry and entertainment to be the best ways to express my emotions and life experiences. As a teen, I relocated independently to the United States to pursue my dreams of becoming an established artist.

My purpose became clear when in 2016 I self-produced and acted in my first short film “Basquiat and Madonna : A Love Story for Millennials”. The project allowed me to explore, discuss and incorporate a variety of topics ranging from human rights, self-empowerment and soul awakening to post-feminism, the African diaspora, self-love and the Millennial’s hurdles. I also incorporated elements paralleling living in New York City in the 1980’s. It was a pivotal and defining point in my early career in terms of directions: telling stories through visuals, writing and film.

Although I live in New York City, I often travel in order to find people and material to work with. I develop ideas conducting research and by experiencing local cultures and history through immersion. My goal and purpose are to help heal the world and people by creatively developing from a variety of themes such as; nature, sustainability, health, social justice and, in particular, historical events with positive outcomes. I like to give my art a voice using different languages so I can connect to more people and guide their imagination to different places.

In the near future I look forward to opening a gallery or start a museum residency as well as working while touring on a national and international level.
